 SUMMER

New Member Training by Video Conference:

A training for new high school soccer referees will be held during July 28 & 29 from 6:00 to 10:00 PM each night.  Yo
u must attend the entire conference.  Experience attending a video conference with Zoom, Google Hang-out,  Microsoft Teams or something similar is highly desirable but not required.  Pre-registration is required but no deposit is required. Download the membership application form, fill it out, save it to your device and return it by email or print it out and send it by US Mail.  If you have not used Zoom before, you need to download and install the Zoom client before the beginning of the class.  Contact Fred Corey, the instructor, for more information

An in-person clinic to become a high school soccer referee is typically held in the summer, but  training by video conference (above) is the only opportunity in the summer of 2020  Training for new high school soccer referees is done under the National Federation of High Schools rules. If you live or work anywhere near Westwood, contact Ed Rae for information about becoming a high school soccer referee.

July and beyond

Registration with MIAA begins July 1, 2020.  All active referees should register before the high school soccer season starts.  If your last background check was done 3 or more years ago by MIAA, you also need to sign-up for the background check on the MIAA site at the same time your register.   The internet address is:

August -September

Mandatory Rule Interpretation Meetings

All active referees MUST ATTEND one of these meetings OR send a message BEFORE the date of the last Rules meeting to emsoa@emsoa.org asking to be excused and briefly explaining why you cannot attend.

North Chapter - meetings at Lakeside Inn, 595 North Ave, Wakefield, MA 01880 (781-245-6100). The entrance to the meeting room is at the left hand end of the building

  • Sunday, August 30th, 2020, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
  • Thursday September 3rd, 2020, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

West Chapter meeting at the Verve Hotel (formerly the Crowne Plaza Hotel), 1360 Worcester St, Natick, MA 01760

  • Tuesday, September 1st, 2020, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

South Chapter meeting at Hanover High School, 287 Cedar St., Hanover, MA.

  • Wednesday, August 26, 7:00 - 9:00 pm

Dates and locations may change. Check the Calendar Page on the EMSOA web site for changes. All EMSOA changes will be posted on the EMSOA web site no later than a few days before the scheduled meeting. Changes at other associations may or may not be posted on the web site of the other association.

There is no extra credit for attending more than one of these meetings.

You can also meet your requirement by attending the Mandatory Rules Interpretation Meeting at another Massachusetts Soccer Officials Association. Make sure the Secretary/Treasurer of the other Association knows that you are from EMSOA.  The nearby associations are:

Check the CCSOA, CMSOA or WCSOA web site a few days before going for changes to their Rules Meeting date and/or location.

 

September - October

CHAPTER MEETINGS

Each chapter will hold two meetings during the Fall season to discuss game situations and other items related to working games.  All active referees should attend at least one chapter meetings. You may attend a meeting at any chapter.
